Designed by our team of experts, this advanced hike takes you off the beaten track and deep into lush tropical rainforest.
Discover the beauty and history of the Tijuca Forest as you navigate hidden trails, cross suspension bridges and streams, and visit lesser-known sights on your way to the top of Taquara Hill. Standing at 814 metres, it’s 100 metres higher than Christ the Redeemer and offers splendid views over Rio on clear days.
Besides the stunning scenery, you’ll experience plenty of adventurous moments and visit fascinating spots that aren’t included in most tours: hidden caves and waterfalls, and the ruins of an old coffee farm. Weather permitting, you’ll even get to refresh yourself with a waterfall shower after the hike!
Throughout the day, your eco guide will share stories about the history of Rio and the Tijuca Forest. You’ll learn about the coffee farms that used to exist there and the reforestation that took place in the 19th century.
