A traditional Roman "osteria" but with a clean, modern feel, Flavio al Velavevodetto is one of my favorite restaurants in Rome. The food, quintessentially Italian, is delicious, and the restaurant itself tucked into an ancient archeological site. You will feel placed firmly, unmistakably, in the heart of the city... And you won't leave hungry!

Flavio is a great all-around restaurant in the sense that I am never disappointed: whether I am in the mood for a superb pasta dish (cacio e pepe, anyone?) or a secondo (meat dish - try the polpette di bollito!), I never leave unsatisfied. A nice wine selection and great desserts seal the deal for this beautiful little spot in Testaccio.
For a great pasta dish, try the ravioli al velavevodetto. Under no circumstances miss the tiramisu!
