Become a designer for the day and have a garment made just for you! This experience supports the work of refugee tailors, and creates opportunities for them in their new community.
At our atelier enjoy coffee, tea, and Roman pastries while learning about tailoring in West Africa and the challenges refugees face in a new place. Collaborate with a tailor from Mali, Ivory Coast, or Burkina Faso to design a one of a kind garment while getting to know their stories and journeys across the Mediterranean. Choose a style from our selection of skirts, shirts, culottes, dresses, bags, aprons, or casual pants. Learn how measurements ensure a perfect fit and how a piece can be adapted to your personal style.
After we’ve designed your garment, we’ll take a short walk through one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Rome to the Nuovo Esquilino Market. Here we’ll meet with international vendors selling one-of-a-kind fabrics. We will guide you in finding the right fabric to suit your garment choice and visit a historical button shop to select the final touches. Our team will finish your garment for pick up or shipment in 3 to 5 days. We tailor pieces for all ages and welcome young designers.
