Description

When in Rome, eat as the Romans do!

Italians usually start their day at a café, so our first stop will be a typical Italian coffee bar to learn about the roasting process while sipping delicious coffee. We’ll then visit the foodie district to browse and indulge in a range of gourmet products, from real buffalo mozzarella to freshly made pasta, and learn about local ingredients and dishes.

Afterwards, we’ll visit a popular established bakery to sample desserts that are loved by locals and travellers alike. We’ll then explore ancient Rome’s foodie neighbourhoods, taste deliciously fresh pasta at an award-winning trattoria, visit a century-old pastry shop, sample some of the best gelato in the city, relax with three glasses of wine from different regions in Italy and more...

We participated in the Rome food and wine walk. Our guide was Mara. We had a lovely time and Mara was an excellent guide. I would certainly recommend it to my friends and if I can. The only issue for us was the starting time. 10.45 was a bit late to be "breakfasting". By the time we got to the final restaurant we were actually stuffed and perhaps did not do the lunch justice. All three of us consumed less than 10% of what was provided. Despite that, the structure of the walk and places we visited was just right. We returned the following day for lunch at the market.
A different side of rome
We were lucky to be the only people on this tour which was booked fora birthday celebration. We had the local knowledge of our lovely guide to take us through some of the best places for food. This is billed as a tasting tour but in fact was large portions wherever we stopped. The food was delicious highlight being the slow cooked beef pattie and wines plentiful. We had to stop before completing all the tastings just because we were too full from gelato, cake and pasta. Hoa did an excellent job and she made our trip very special. We could've done with a slightly shorter tour as we were expecting it to last 3 hours and it would have been 4 ½ hrs if we'd done all that was on her list. For anyone concerned about how far you walk it was a gentle walk with lots of stops so very manageable.
