Right in the middle of Balboa Park, which is home to a large portion of San Diego's museums as well as the famous San Diego Zoo, the Botanical Building is an often overlooked oasis. Locals love it for casual dates, warm afternoons in the park and as a perfect photo location for special events.
Why you should visit it
With more than 2000 plant species in the indoor garden at any given time, the Botanical Building and attached lily pond are a photographer's paradise. Since you'll probably be in Balboa Park at some point during your visit anyway, don't miss out on this often forgotten part of beautiful Balboa Park.
Special tip
Be sure to see the Smell Garden inside the Botanical Building, where you can see and smell unusual varieties such as flowers that smell like chocolate
