Beach bums, college kids and businessmen alike all line up around the block at Hodad's Ocean Beach location for some of the best burgers, fries, onion rings and milkshakes in town. The family owned burger joint has been serving locals since '69 and it's definitely become an institution in the city.

More than just great burgers, the staff at Hodad's has a special knack for making you feel right at home. Even with the opening of two new locations in San Diego, the original Hodad's by the beach still maintains their small business feel and as soon as you sit down, you'll be treated just like one of the regulars.

While you wait to be seated, make sure to take a closer look at the license plates and the homages to local surfer culture lining the walls.
