Where can I find free or cheap parking spots/lots near Waterfront Park?

Another option if you are concerned with free parking is to go on Sunday where parking is free all day (unless posted). If you do park in the meters during the week, make sure you keep an eye on the time your meter is expiring because the meter enforcement tag cars on a regular interval and then come back and ticket if the car hasn't moved, even if the meter doesn't show expired because there is a time limit for the spot. Tickets are really expensive. Also if you are visiting multiple things downtown, a $5 day pass for the trolley might be a good idea. You can park for fee at a stop near little Italy and continue your exploring without thinking about your car.

Thank you so much!
I used to live in Little Italy (the neighborhood where waterfront park is located in). There is a lot of meter parking on North Harbor Drive in front of the park itself and just north of the star of india. The meter is about $1.75 an hour but the meters run for just 2 or 4 hours. (you can find longer meters if you continue up Harbor Drive towards the airport). Some meter spots are free after 6pm others 8pm. The park itself is located on the grounds of the administration building and has an adjacent garage under the park you can access on Ash St. On a normal day, that garage is about $10 to park and a great option. Finally, you can try for the 1 no meter free street if you make the left off of W Hawthorn immediately before the light of North Harbor Drive. I don't know the name of the street and it doesn't appear in google maps - but it is there and I have personally parked on it.
Its a fun park, enjoy!

So-so helpful, thank you very much!
There’s a parking lot accross the street. Don’t waste ur valuable time driving around looking for cheap parking. Just consider the extra cost part of your budget and enjoy a relaxed time.
