Why locals love it

Characterized by its 245-foot tall clock tower, Ferry Building is a terminal for ferries that travel to Sausalito and across the bay, and also a food hall. It's always full of people shopping, departing or admiring the great nave with its arched arcades, inspired by XIXth century European covered galleries. It reminds me of Paris' passageways.

Why you should visit it

Under its covered hall you’ll find numerous shops, restaurants and coffees. Moreover every saturday, tuesday and wednesday is held there San Franscico’s famous Farmer’s market, where cheese, spices, oils, wines and fresh products are sold at local prices (meaning quite expensive for European standards).

Special tip

My favorite thing to do in Ferry Building is to take out a Blue bottle coffee and sit outside to watch the ocean and departing ferries.

Quite the spot for stimulating the senses. Although a bit pricey this spot is sure to satisfy every sensory input you have. Smell the rich aroma of coffee; taste the bursting flavor of fresh steamed dumplings or delicious almond brittle. This spot nestled alongside the underbelly of the bay bridge offers amazing views of Treasure Island and the East Bay.

Great spot to grab gifts from local artisans and filled with tourists and locals alike. Giant farmer's market every Saturday (at least through October). Stop by Humphrey Slocomb for a uniquely tasty ice cream treat.
