This restaurant is a block off the tourist path and, unlike the eateries on Columbus Ave., hotels aren’t paid to send their guests here. It’s family-run and has been in the neighborhood for over 30 years. Paolo or Silvio greet you at the door with a "buona sera" and a kiss, while Mike behind the bar always has a smile and a killer cocktail ready.
Both the food and the service are amazing. The wine selection is great, too. They serve authentic northern Italian food that will fill you up without bloating you. This is by far the best value restaurant you’ll find in North Beach.
Friday night is lamb shank night and the meat literally falls off the bone. The stuffed mushroom appetizer is to die for.
