The Saloon

Why locals love it

Established in 1861 as Wagner's Beer Hall, The Saloon is the city's oldest bar and live blues venue. It even managed to survive the fire caused by the 1906 earthquake. This unusual place is renowned for its nightly live music shows and unpretentious atmosphere.

Why you should visit it

The Saloon is clearly a local institution. Come here for a trippy 60s experience and to listen to local bands play incredibly good music. It’s a great place to mix with the local crowd moving and swaying on the dance floor at various degrees of intoxication! They have a large range of beers, hard liquor and cocktails for cheap.

Special tip

There’s a $5 fee for live concerts.
