Frank Lloyd Wright Building

Xanadu Gallery

Why locals love it

Located inside a historic building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1948, the Xanadu Gallery specializes in Asian art. The architecture is contrasted with its cubic red-brick exterior and its classy interior. You will surely recognize the elliptical access ramp, as the building served as a prototype for the famous Guggenheim Museum in NYC.

Why you should visit it

It is the only Frank Lloyd Wright work and a hidden treasure in San Francisco. It is worth taking a detour by the secluded and luxurious maiden lane, in the busy district of Union Square. Xanadu Gallery also displays some very fine Asian art, oceanian and ethnographic works of art, that are worth a visit.

Special tip

If you just want to visit the place and take photos it is allowed, but you should leave a $1-2 donation at the entrance.
