Why locals love it
Boteco is how Brazilians call an original, dirty look kind of pub, usually located on a corner. Bar das Batidas, best known as "C do Padre" (literally priest's ass - sorry guys) is one of the most authentic you will find. Its nickname comes from the fact that it's located at the back of a church. The "batidas" (cocktails) are the real thing here.
Why you should visit it
You will not find drinks like these anywhere else: the mixtures are prepared in advanced with secret recipes passed through generations. The decoration is kitsch and traditional for these kind of places, with cheese and salami hanging from the ceiling. Chatting with the owners and regular clients will add a special flavour to this experience.
