Sao Paolo in June 2019

Hello SP people. I will be visiting Brazil in mid June for 8 days and will be in SP for 3 of those days.
Currently I have reserved a hotel in the Moema area but unsure if I want to stay there.

Can anyone please tell me what the Pinheiros/Jardins area is like to stay and wander around during the evenings for the nightlife? And are these areas in walking distance to Vila Madalena or a metro/taxi is needed to get there.

What is the Moema area like in the evenings?

I am travelling solo and want to make the most of SP during the evenings. I may even put a request later to see who may want to hang out for one evening...

Any feedback will be appreciated!
Thank you :)
Vijay

Hi!
Moema has a subway station. To Vila Madalena is better use subway (line lilac and line green, last station). It takes 20 minutes from Moema to Vila Madalena.

From Moema to Pinheiros you can use a subway too (line lilac, line green and line yellow, taking a way to São Paulo Morumbi). It Takes 20 minutes too.

Enjoy SP :)

Hi Vijay!
I think the Pinheiros area is better for nightlife and walk distance for many bars (Low Pinheiros is a cool new area to enjoy too) - I recommend Rua Guaicuí (Guaicuí street). Search for hotels near subway stations in Pinheiros (Oscar Freire, Fradique Coutinho, etc). Moema is safe at night, but not that much to do (anyway I recommend Museo Veronia e Banqueta Bar there).
EnjoY :)

Hello Vijay ! II think Pinheiros is best and closer to Vila Madalena than Moema. The best SP bars are located in Pinheiros and Vila Madalena. You will find good reataurants at both, but in Pinheiros and Vila Madalena are more younger and with a lot of options.

Hello!

Not used to walk around Moema on foot! What I understand Is that Its usually a place to get around by car. there's a mid class mall in the area which is big and nice but mostly a more residential area.. Jardins Is a rich people neighborhood and to walk around in the evening I believe Pinheiros / Vila madalena (know for its restaurants and bars) are the best options in my opinion. Pinheiros and Vila madalena is easily acessible by subway too. You can walk from Pinheiros to Vila Madalena but it takes around 1 hour and lots of hills in the madalena area. In short, the best places to walk around I believe is near the subway stations Fradique coutinho, Oscar freire, Clínicas, Consolação and all the other Paulista avenue subway stations (Probably the best place of all to stay but also could be more expensive) Always prefer taking the subway or even Uber to get around.

Hello there!
Moema is a safe neighborhood, but far from Vila Madalena. Jardins is much more alive during the day and night, around Rua Oscar Freire (good area for shopping, eat, see people) going up to Avenida Paulista, where such museums as IMS (photography), Masp (modern art), Japan House and Itau Cultural are located. All walking distance from each other. Pinheiros on the other hand, is pretty close to Vila Madalena (depending on whrere you stay), where you can find cool bars, and a lot going on at night. Neve forget that sp is a huge city and sometimes walking between neighborhoods can take a while, but uber and taxis are inexpensive and a good way to move around.

Thank you so much for the replies, all is noted :)

May I ask you guys if there is a main road or area of Pinheiros where the popular nightlife is please?

Hi Vijay,

I would not recommend a hotel in Moema. Not because it's unsafe, but because it's a bit boring.
If you stay in Jardins/Paulista/Consolação, I would recommend you to stay close to a metro station. From there you can get to Vila Madalena/Pinheiros.
I think staying close to Paulista is a good call. Pinheiros or Vila Madalena (close to the metros stations) is also a very nice place to stay. You will have no problem getting around.

Hey, Vijay!
Moema is a nice neighborhood, but not quite good for travelers... it is quite distant from Vila Madalena and Pinheiros and not easy to move around with public transport.
For sure, the area to stay is Jardins/ Paulista area. If you can get a hotel close to a metro station, it is better. There, you are close to the main attractions of the city and from the best club/ bars of São Paulo.
I hope you have a good moment here.
Abraços!
