I'm planning a trip which includes Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, and Alaska. I want to visit Boeing Factory, the Space Needle and hopefully the Amazon Spheres plus a day to get lost :). What's the best area to stay? and how much time should I leave for Seattle having in mind that I suppose to use public transportation? My dates are - from the end of April till May 10 or so. I would love meeting up with locals. Thanks, Olga

1) Are you aware the Boeing tour is actually in Everett?
2 Spheres are only open to public 2 Saturdays each month by reservation (but free) there's a website for it
3) I take my tourist guests to the Sky Observatory instead of the Space Needle - cheaper with WAY better view

Jane's Seattle Out-of-Town day tour ( this is what we do):
King Street station, look at ceilings, coffee at Zeitgeist, but custom chocolate next door for snack later at Intruigue, working north, stop at National Park Klondike museum, secret waterfall garden, Sky vie Observatory, Seattle library (enter on 4th, walk through red hall , go to top and look down middle from sky catwalk), through public hallway of Benaroya Hall to see Chihuly chandelier, head up to Pike Place market, first Starbucks, gum wall, shops, Serious Pie for handcrafted pizza, up to Seattle Center for pictures of Space Needle and Chihuly Garden & Glass museum which is more interesting than it sounds and a feast for photography. Then take monorail back from Seattle Center south to downtown. Sometimes we do the Underground Tour , though it depends on if there are kids.
Pink Door in Pike Place Market or the Yard House also good

Lodging would depend on price you are willing to pay and whether you have car, there are also several hostels that have good ratings centrally located.
