The historic center of Sibiu doesn't have too many green spaces as the main intention of the medieval fortified town was to defend its inhabitants from unexpected invasions (especially Turks). However, after the fortification lost its role, the moat surrounding the old town was refurbished into a park along Cetății' Street fortification wall.

Strada Cetății means the Fortress's Street and it is called like that because it is flanked by the 4th medieval fortification of the Upper Town of Sibiu. Walking the street you will see three defense towers of the old fortifications and also the former moat. Several cafes and restaurants with pavement terraces in summer are a good choice in town.
Exit the fortification wall towards the Coposu Street to see how the old Thalia Bastion was erected as part of the fortification system.
