During this short hike (2 - 3 h - with lots of breaks to admire the view) you will:
- visit a fortified church (one of the many from this part of the country);
- understand why Saxons built so many fortified churches in the region, their defensive strategy, and how this developed into such a widespread phenomenon in Transylvania;
- see the lifestyle of a small, authentic village;
- hike to a nearby hilltop from where you can see a panoramic view of Sibiu City (15 - 30 minutes of hike);
- continue our hike to another panoramic spot (another 15 - 30 minutes of hike) from where you can see the Transylvanian Alps (the
Făgărași Mountains) if the weather is good;
- go to a small hamlet where you will see traditional households, with cattle, sheep, fruit orchards, and vegetable gardens;
If you are up for this challenge, get comfortable shoes and in less than 1h from Sibiu, you will experience a different side of the city and its surroundings.
