Pittiövaara's Hirviäkuru Gorge
Why locals love it
It is certainly not difficult to find the Hirviäkuru Gorge from the Pittiövaara - it is quite shockingly large, and is located next to the top of Hirviänkurunlaki at heights of Piittiövaara. The bottom of the gorge is dropped full of huge boulders that make walking on the bottom impossible. The gorge is easier to admire from its edges.
Why you should visit it
Pittiövaara's Gorge Hirviäkuru does not have ready-made routes, signs, a fireplace or other services for hikers. However, it is only a quarter of a drive from the center of Sodankylä. From the top of Pittiövaara and from the edge of the gorge, significantly wonderful landscape in all directions opens.
Special tip
Terrain is steep and rocky, you should step carefully.
