Salpalinja - Finnish Bolt Line

Salpalinja

Why locals love it

The northern end of Salpalinja is located in Savukoski. Salpalinja is Finland's largest single construction project. The latch line is made up of huge barrels of stones up to 6000-7000 kg in weight and 3 m³ in size, and firearms, observation and machine gun shells made of wood and stones in the terrain.

Why you should visit it

The starting point of the renovated Salpalinja boardwalk is the Sarvilampi resting spot, 1.5 km from the road leading from Savukoski to Salla. The path passes through an anti-tank barrier. Along the way, two fortifications have been completely restored: a Finnish guard placement from 1940 and a German observatory and machine gun place from 1944.

Special tip

The trail is 1.2 km long, of which there are 0.8 km of boardwalks. There are benches along the path where you can sit down. Summer destination
