I love the Vitosha mountains due to their proximity to the city of Sofia and the feeling of serenity you have, when you are in the woods or on top of the mountains. There are several peaks in the Vitosha National Park, higher than 2.000 m. One of them is Cherni Vrah (Black Peak), which is in the top 5 highest peaks in Bulgaria, with 2.290 m.

The snack-bar of the National Archives is one of the best places to enjoy great views of the city center of Sofia while having a beer, french fries and Shopska salad (a local salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and cheese. Although the building is not very tall, it offers a great view on the Vitosha mountains and the main sightseeing spots.
