Lavra was built soon after the foundation of St-Pete and influenced all the aspects of city life and well beyond the city borders with frequent visits of the royal family members and all the navy priests being appointed exclusively from local monks. Nowadays it's an acting monastery with quite a number of pilgrims visiting it every year.
