Why locals love it
I'd love to avoid the historical part of the importance of this place as you can easily find it out on "Wikipedia". I just wanted to let you know that the Fortress is a wonderful place to visit both in summer and winter time and I'll tell you why.
Why you should visit it
In summer time you can take a sunbath on the beautiful sandy beach nearby and enjoy the beautiful view of the city and the Neva river, in winter time the fortress looks very cozy and usually there is an exhibition of ice sculpture inside during winter season (extra fee) and there is a very nice Soviet time styled "Leningradskoe cafe" .
