My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this unique cooking class. We are from the US and have done some cooking classes in other countries as well and this Russian one is definitely tops. We were able to choose 2 items to cook ahead of time. We chose the traditional Olivier Salad and Borsch. The chef was a professional Russian Chef who spoke no English; however, our guide, Julia, interpreted everything for us perfectly. We were met at our hotel and driven to the Restaurant to begin our class. We were alone so our time was private and personal, an unexpected treat! Because this class was only the two of us, we ended in 2 hours. For our last hour Julia offered to give us a brief tour of the city before returning to our hotel. We drove to a couple of historic sites, got out of the car at each and Julia informed us of the great Russian history all around us. She was extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant, as well as, a great photographer! We will be cooking the items we learned for our friends and family at home as soon as possible. The only drawback to the cooking experience was the overly affectionate, shedding cat that joined us at meal time. Take this class and tell them to leave the cat in another room! We made thee best Borsch of our whole trip! The history of the Olivier Salad is remarkable and it's a salad we will add to all of our holidays meals going forward. Thank you UlkoTours & Julia!
