Located on the central island of Skeppsholmen, Moderna Museet houses one of the world’s finest collections of 20th and 21st-century art, as well as an impressive photography collection with works dating back to the 1840s. It also hosts fascinating temporary exhibitions and runs a varied programme of events.

Why you should visit it

Here you can catch works by notable modern artists including Marcel Duchamp, Louise Bourgeois, Pablo Picasso, Niki de Saint Phalle, Salvador Dalí, Carolee Schneemann, Henri Matisse and Robert Rauschenberg.

Special tip

Free entry on Fridays from 18:00–20:00.

Always nice exhibits there, nice food and the view from the restaurant is very beautiful. Free entry to the ordinary collection.

Currently free admission to permanent collection, however you must pay for the Yayoi Kusama retrospective. Good cafe with excellent water views.
