Why locals love it

Vete-Katten is an iconic local “fika” spot bursting with a delectable selection of traditional Swedish cakes and pastries. More akin to a grandmother’s living room than your everyday café, it attracts its fair share of elderly citizens, nostalgic youth and tired tourists.

Why you should visit it

If you’re out and about in central Stockholm and in need of a slow-paced sanctuary to restore your energy, look no further than Vete-Katten. With lavishly decorated interiors and a rabbit warren of regal rooms, it’s a charming haven from the hustle outside.

Special tip

It gets super crowded on weekends, so you’re better off stopping by during the week.

Like visiting your grandmother (if she was a really great baker!) this coffee shop and lunchtime eatery is far from the cookie-cutter coffee chains that dominate the coffee scene today. Love this place and go often, to work, study, meet with friends or just have really good pastries.

Really cozy and centrally located café where you'll find fresh salads, soups, and pastries. Kind of popular among senior citizens (but in a good way) so the atmosphere is relaxed and calm.

A truly old-world feeling - respectful, slow, and lively atmosphere with a variety of great pastry and cakes next to a good cup of coffee. They also have nice rooms for people who want to stay around longer to read or study, with coffee jugs that never get empty - refill, refill, refill.
