Eastern Border Trail

Why locals love it

The Eastern Border Trail is a summer hiking trail that is a 160-kilometer-long. Wilderness hiking trail travels near the eastern border of Kainuu. There is plenty to see along the route, e.g. Viennese villages and the wilderness areas of Murhisalo and Martinselkonen. The trail starts from the Kuivajärvi and ends up to the Värikallio Cliff, Hossa.

 

Why you should visit it

The summer hiking trail is suitable for wilderness hiking. In addition to the summer hiking trail, there is a winter hiking trail that does not have regular maintenance. The winter and summer hiking trails merge in places.

Special tip

The Eastern Border Trail can be divided into day or couple lengths. The route may run in whole or in part.
