Why locals love it

The historically third tsasouna of the Viennese villages of Suomussalmi was completed in 1957. The temple dedicated to the memory of St. Nicholas was consecrated 1958. The iconostasis, the church hall wall icons and the altar icon were painted by painter Martha Neiglick-Platonoff.

Why you should visit it

The mosaic icon placed above the staircase of Tsasouna's entrance was made in the 1980s by Liisa Salo (e. Huovinen), an artist born in Hietajärvi. The artist exemplified the theme of Christ the Almighty in the 12th century mosaic work is originally from Novgorod, Russia.
