Bronte Beach

Why locals love it

South of the (in)famous Bondi and North of Coogee (a backpacker favourite), Bronte offers the best of Sydney's beachside life. It still gets busy, but it's free from the body worshippers, hordes of lobsters (our term for bright red foreigners who seem to think sunburn is a tan) or the glamarama pretension that obscure those other coastal hotspots.

Why you should visit it

Relatively small compared to Bondi and Coogee Bronte still manages to pack it all in. There's a large park with barbecues so you can cook your own lunch, a saltwater lap pool, rock pools with all sorts of sea critters, and most glorious of all, the beach itself. Make sure you walk up to the cliffs for a breathtaking view of the Pacific.

Special tip

You can easily reach Bondi and Cogee on foot. Just follow the path at the top of the cliffs.
