Opened in 1989, Chat Thai's aged well. You feel fresh and invigorated just being in the building, charged by the scent of lemongrass, chilli, crackling prawns and roast duck. It's almost as intoxicating as Bangkok - the food is THAT good - but let's be honest, Sydney's pristine streets will never offer the same ambience as the mania of Thong Lo.
Never been to Bangkok? Then don't miss the opportunity to experience authentic Thai cuisine. Try the crisp fried coconut milk marinated chicken with smoked chilli relish, the green papaya salad or the crisp whole snapper with fried and shredded lemongrass with wild ginger. It's all good! But please don't order stir fry, OK? Live a little.
Don't forget dessert! Sweet and salty coconut cream puddings toasted in a cast iron griddle? Or sticky rice and mango? A BIG lychee frappe perhaps...
