It's strange that Paddy's, a perennial favourite, is often forgotten by Sydneysiders. It's so much a part of the scenery that people gloss over it, waking past on their way to somewhere else. But they're always drawn back, lured by its cheap and cheerful siren song, humming in tune with its clamorous melody: people, bargains, diamonds in the rough!
The closest Sydney gets to an Asian hawker market, this is a colossus of bargain buying: food, clothes, jewellery, electronics, souvenirs, flowers and even the occasional wayward gem. Right in the heart of Chinatown, and directly beneath Market City (the best Asian shopping mall in town) Paddy's is a gold star diversion, before or after yum cha.
