Whilst Shelley Beach is located on the ocean, just south of Manly, it's a very calm, sheltered spot. This makes it popular with families, or those wanting a relaxing paddle on the shore. It's also popular with snorkelling and divers, with a great array of fish to see, including the local gropers.

Why you should visit it
If you're used to beaches without the rough waves of many Australian beaches, you'll feel more at home at Shelley Beach. Alternatively, if it's the local sealife that you want to experience, enter the beach on the left-hand side and continue down to Fairy Bower (just past the rock pool).
Special tip
Walk to Shelley from Manly Beach via the easy foreshore walk.
