Doris Goddard, owner of this iconic bar, once starred alongside Hollywood legends. But she gave it up, came home and created a legend all her own. And while the walls may be covered in glittering ephemera from Doris's time in La La Land, the vibe's warm and casual. Except when Doris pops down from her apartment to sing show tunes with her guitar.

It's an icon: verified, bonafide, certified. Why exactly? Doris says it's like "a carpet slipper". But can you sum up the Hollywood in a single line, or even an anecdote? It's been around so long. Over the years it's been many things to many people. If we had to narrow it down: it's a beacon of scuffed charm amongst a rash of hipster haunts.
