Why locals love it

The Museum of Occupations is a harrowing reminder of the country's not-so-distant past, with displays from both the Nazi and the Soviet occupations of Estonia. During World War II, the country was unfortunate enough to experience occupation by both of the warring sides. Estonia went from brutal hand to brutal hand.

Why you should visit it

All in all the exhibition is put together rather well and offers a fairly concise overview of the recent history of the country. As the collection includes items from the everyday life of Soviet citizens as well as artefacts from the war, the museum will appeal to curious visitors and history buffs alike.

Special tip

CLOSED TEMPORARILY UNTIL JULY 2018.
