Kalamaja in Tallinn
Why locals love it
Kalamaja has become popular among students and artsy people. Recently a lot of small cool cafes and bars have been popping up and the area itself is a lot quieter though still close to the center and old town.
Why you should visit it
This part of town is for real adventurers! Soviet remnants, an old prison, an Estonian 1930s submarine and a Russian flea market mix with a romantic wooden neighbourhood and seaside to produce a unique cityscape that’s full of life.
Tram no’s. 1 and 2 (direction Kopli) take you to the Kalamaja area.
