For your sins

Why locals love it

The choice of name ("Hell") is diabolical, as the pub itself is deviously charming. The food is sinfully cheap, considering the quality of their meals, prepared by chefs who take their jobs dead-seriously. From an Estonian perspective, the foods here are quite traditional.

Why you should visit it

Actively rejecting redemption of any kind, the owners of Põrgu offer a respectable selection of draught beers. But considering this is a pub, it only makes sense that the main idea here is to torment the guests with tempting beer labels, with some carnal pleasures thrown in (and by carnal pleasures we are hereby referring to actual meats).

Special tip

Don't forget to ask for the devilish 7.6% Pihtla home brew from Saaremaa island!

As someone who grew up in a country without old towns and castles, the Medieval nature of Porgu really appeals to me. A warm cellar bar to sit on some wrought iron furniture and sip some fine ales.

Excellent food and great beers. Make a reservation in advance, cause it's pretty crowded most of the time. It's almost the only place in Tallinn where you can get Pihtla (devilish beer that'll knock you up on the first pint)
