Take a train from Balti Jaam to Aegviidu - beautiful hiking routes with forests and lakes all around. You can check the train timetable here https://pilet.elron.ee/en.

To visit the closest bog – Pääsküla Bog (raba), you can take a local bus number 18 from the centre and get off at 'Hiiu' bus stop. The plan of the track is here: http://www.tallinn.ee/est/nomme/g6363s45981

Tallinn is surrounded by forests. So basically in any direction you go you'll find some. Aegviidu train, mentioned by Sirli, is a good choice. But is can also be the Lahemaa National Park (any bus bound for Loksa or Võsu) stretching to the seashore, South of Tallinn or even take a boat to islands – Naissaar is an hour away and a real forgotten corner.

The easiest way is to go towards Keila-Joa by minivan number 237 or 237A. There are beaches and forests in that area. You can find the timetable here: http://www.peatus.ee/#region;harju/eng. One-way ticket should be around €2-3.
