We had fun visit to Lahemaa national park, Jägala waterfall, Sagadi manor and Viru bog. Day had a lot of activities and sights to see. We observed beaver tracks, saw eagles, storks and swans and visited forestry museum. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about nature and animals. The tour was not rushed but we had time for everything. Bog area is very nice and we plan to visit Lahemaa again in the future.

Description

It only takes an hour to drive to Lahemaa - the most popular day trip destination from Tallinn. The park itself covers a huge area of protected primeval forest, small rivers and a number of hiking trails. It is famous for its rich wildlife, untouched - no gates or fences needed to protect the area.

The first stop on the way is Jägala waterfall, after which the tour will visit Sagadi Manor, where you can learn about the legacy of German land-owners living in the Estonian countryside for centuries.

A visit to the Beaver Trails gives you an opportunity to search for animal tracks, see the fauna and wildlife, understand the importance of forests in Estonian culture and traditions.

You will then visit Altja village which is unique as it represents the architecture of our fishing villages as they were before the estblishment of coastal border zone during the Soviet times. You have time for a walk by the seaside and Altja tavern is open for tasting traditional Estonian farm food.

Last thing on the tour is picturesque walk in Viru bog. You will go on the boardwalk leading to observation tower where you can admire how the unique vegetation is contrasting the bog pools and hollows.

A relaxing day trip
We booked the day trip to the Lahemaa national park and were part of a small group. The guide Kristiina was excellent, she tailored the trip according to our interests and didn't rush the day. we visited the Jagala waterfall, followed a bog walk, explored Altja fishing village where we enjoyed a lunch of traditional Estonian food , and then went on to Sagadi manor. It was a relaxing way of visiting some of the more unspoilt parts of Estonia and was a great change from Tallinn city.

A good day.
Mikki was a very good guide and we were lucky to be with a nice group of people. We particularly enjoyed the Bog walk, but the whole day was enjoyable and informative.

Regular seal watching
I had a most wonderful time on a seal watching tour arranged by Prangli Travel. I learned so many interesting facts about seals, nature and history of small islands we passed by on our trip. The boat ride was fun and even in spite of the fact that we saw less seals than usually can be seen, it was a real quality time. Thank you, Prangli Travel!

The seals were amazing!
The seals welfare was always considered, we did not disturb them, stayed well away, and they came swimming to the boat, curious to see what we were doing. Some did, anyway, others were much happier discussing ownership of the best rocks, or just pushing each other off rocks. They were grey seals, incidentally, and I now know much more about their lives, their needs, and why there are colonies of ringed seals also found in the Baltic.

The Serenity of Prangli Island
We (myself + wife) had an amazing visit, many thanks to our Prangli Travel tour guide Berit who was exceptionally warm and welcoming and who spoke from her personal/ intimate connect with Prangli island, having worked on the island as a school teacher. The small group size was perfect and helped us strike friendly conversations not just with Berit but also our fellow travellers, who like Berit were local Estonians and extremely warm in their demeanor and sharing
