Myself and 3 friends had a great day with Kurt and especially enjoyed visiting the abandoned town. It's a long day, for sure, but you get to see so much of the country, so it's totally worth it. Standing across the river from Russia was another highlight.

The vehicle was modern and comfortable and Kurt was an excellent guide, taking us to a nice spot for a delicious lunch too!

Description

A day in Tallinn simply cannot be compared to a day in Narva. To be honest, no place on earth can be compared to Estonia’s mysterious east… A day hunting hammers and sickles is definitely a day well-spent.

This tour takes you on a journey from beautiful medieval castles and coastal cliffs to extraordinary artificial ash mountains, eerie industrial ghost towns and the most bizarre Soviet-themed museum in Estonia. Along the way you’ll get an entertaining introduction to the absurdist tragicomedy known as the "Reminiscences of the Soviet Union". You'll also get the chance to see an old Soviet T-34 tank as well as a statue of Lenin!

It doesn’t matter whether you know just a little or a lot about Soviet history – it’s fun either way. The eastern part of Estonia is for true adventurers.

All of our day trips are for small groups of up to eight people. You’ll be driven around in a car or minivan.

Very informative
I really wanted to learn about the Soviet occupation and see cities in the interiors of Estonia. It was a fantastic and informative tour. Our tour guide Kat was really good. Gave us ample information about the medieval history of Estonia and later on about the soviet occupation. We visited cities on the border town. Saw old abandoned castles/forts and some refurbished ones. This tour is not everyones cup of tea but if you are interested, I’d highly recommend it.

Urban exploring, castles and shale bings
Katlin is a proper history teacher who kept us engaged and enthused as we struck east past storks and an elk (yes! -not guaranteed every day). From Narva we looked at Russia, Lenin, twin forts and the huge Krenholm cotton mill. Mining town Kohtla-Jarve, with garden city origins, shale bings and an Armenian restaurant (try the Georgian green lemonade, looks like absinthe), the model soviet Sullimae, which had some nefarious cold war purpose, and a not-entirely-abandoned mining village (some valiant residents still holding out with neat gardens against adjacent abandonment). Tolse Teutonic castle on the seashore and an interesting (yes) cement works started the day's visits. Be prepared for a long and stimulating day rich in recent and ancient memories. Thank you!

Interesting Tour
Long tour but definitely worth it and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to learn more about the Soviet times. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
More than we eexpected
Kert Oun was our guide for a fantastic tour of former Soviet and eastern block sites. We drove to many towns and saw wonderful examples of daily life and architecture in eastern Estonia. Kert has a true love and knowledge of history. By the end of the day, we felt very knowledgeable about Estonia history over several eras. A highlight of the day was a visit to Narva, with all of its beauty and architecture. We would definitely recommend the tour and hope to do it again.
The tour was definitely a 5, we had an amazing day and visited so many interesting places. Even after 12 h the energy in the group was still high and we had fun. Would go again any time.

Amazing day trip
Having a small group of eighth people was a great idea. A nice size group and great transport. The guide (Anders) was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour and pride about his country.

I would recommend this trip to anyone.
Fantastic Trip with Laura!
We had a fantastic trip to Riga with Laura (pronounced Lau-Ra). She was a very energetic, positive and very historically informative guide. You could not ask for a better guide! The van we rode in was spacious enough for 8. The van was unmarked by advertising/logo so we did not feel like a marked' tourist. There were so many great sights to see along the way. We particularly enjoyed the Trakai Castle and Hill of Crosses. I highly recommend taking the trip to anyone wanting to see sights outside the Baltic capitals. See the real countryside!

Thank you Laura!
Absolutely great day trip
The staff and tour guides were all extremely helpful, easy-going, charismatic, and freely shared their knowledge and cool facts with the group. Everything about the day was memorable, and I would say the highlight of my trip. I will definitely be going back to some of the places we visited, such as Käsmu and Sagadi, the next time I'm over in the beautiful land of Estonia.
Best way from Riga to Vilnius
Well organised tour from Riga to Vilnius. Tour guide Laura is funny, energetic and she provided a lot of information during the journey. 100% recommended and I will explore other tours between 2 cities.
Giving it 5 stars because we can’t give it 10!
This was an AMAZING trip. Our guide, Laura was entertaining, fun & very knowledgeable. She was a good sport and flexible to accommodate the needs of our group. We so enjoyed our time with her. Each stop was something unique and different - well off the beaten path. We highly recommend this trip to anyone traveling between Riga & Tallinn.
