Narva & The Eastern Bloc Day Tour from Tallinn

Eastern Estonia is as close as you can get to Russia without a visa. Expect hammers and sickles, ash mountains, Lenin statues and hunting towns. And yes, you will see Russia without crossing the border.

When I travel, I crave new and different experiences. The only way I can describe Narva & Eastern Bloc Tallinn tour is an absolute adventure. Going to the Russian/Estonian Border seeing relics of the Old Communist Occupation in the east and learning about the immense history of the region were all highlights. The guides were great. I'd go back again in a heartbeat, even if it's just for the herring.

Description

A day in Tallinn simply cannot be compared to a day in Narva. To be honest, no place on earth can be compared to Estonia’s mysterious east… A day hunting hammers and sickles is definitely a day well-spent.

This tour takes you on a journey from beautiful medieval castles and coastal cliffs to extraordinary artificial ash mountains, eerie industrial ghost towns and the most bizarre Soviet-themed museum in Estonia. Along the way you’ll get an entertaining introduction to the absurdist tragicomedy known as the "Reminiscences of the Soviet Union". You'll also get the chance to see an old Soviet T-34 tank as well as a statue of Lenin!

It doesn’t matter whether you know just a little or a lot about Soviet history – it’s fun either way. The eastern part of Estonia is for true adventurers.

All of our day trips are for small groups of up to eight people. You’ll be driven around in a car or minivan.

A day trip to East Estonia - Sillamäe, Kohtla-Järve, Narva, took us to places average tourist would never get to. Definitely something to see for those who are interested in history, culture and something out of ordinary :)
The tour was definitely a 5, we had an amazing day and visited so many interesting places. Even after 12 h the energy in the group was still high and we had fun. Would go again any time.
