Mtskheta is the old capital of East Georgian kingdom. Now it is a beautiful small town with red roofs and carved wooden balconies. It´s one of the best places to buy souvenirs and handmade crafts, you will find the shops everywhere in the old town.

Mtskheta is located just 20 km away from Tbilis and it is easily accessible by public transport. It´s mostly known for its picturesque old town and the major Orthodox cathedral Svetitskhoveli from XI century, which has a status of UNESCO world heritage site.
There is a Marshrutka from Didube station, that leaves every 20 minutes and costs 2 gel.
