Can anyone explain the origin of the flag of Georgia and its symbols ?

Georgia,as well as England is patron of saint George, and flag is inspired by saint George's flag. Thats why both flags look alike

No, I don't think so. Actually it has become a Georgian flag quite recently, in 2000ies, and one of the reasonings the supporters of it were bringing, was the fact that Queen Tamar in XIII century was using this flag during the battles and other military operations.
