Hi, me and my wife are coming to Georgia for the first time, it will be the first week of April and before heading to Gudauri for our Ski trip we'll be in Tbilisi for like 24hrs, any suggestions on how best we could enjoy the city. Also want to know if i should rent a car to go around the city?

The part of the city that is attractive and worth sightseeing is relatively small and can be covered on foot unless you are really really tired. Even in that case taxis are an easier option than renting a car. Some taxis are less comfortable (or the driver may not speak English or they may haggle with you a lot) so I would advice you download Taxify (an Estonian equivalent to Uber; Tbilisi does not have Uber) but it's entirely up to you. Taxi drivers are notorious for charging foreigners more than the locals.

In terms of what to see - Start in the area of Sulphur Baths (Abanotubani) and walk your way up to Kote Apkhazi (formerly Leselidze) street towards the Freedom Square. Alternatively, take a cable car from the Europe Sq (near Abanotubani) to the Narikala Fortress, have a look over the city and then walk down to the Freedom Square (it's not that difficult). Then continue on to Rustaveli Avenue, at the end of it, walk down to the Elbakidze descent towards Galaktioni bridge, reach the Marjanishvili Sq and then either left or right on Aghmashenebeli Avenue. To the right is probably better. Ask around for Fabrika, check out an industrial loft turned into an artsy place, and then find your way back to the hotel. You'll have seen bits and pieces of old and new. That should be enough for one day.
