As a resident expat in Tbilisi I joined Kristi's tour to discover some of the deeper gems of Tbilisi. Though we did visit many surface toursit highlights, Kristi was also able to share with me a handful of places and legends I had not known. Kristi is positive, passionate, and genuine. I enjoyed my time with her.

Description

Tbilisi is an amazing capital; it’s full of ancient and medieval character, it has a fairy-tale charm, and it’s a combination of old and modern elegance. We absolutely adore our city, we love revealing our remarkable history and fantastic culture, and we enjoy meeting new people every day.

This tour will first take you along narrow old streets to the place where Tbilisi was founded. We’ll tell you about the history of Georgia, Tbilisi, and its sights, as well as about the wonderful cuisine of Georgia. We’ll also visit an area that was on the Silk Road (the trade and craft district), and see the old city walls.

Sights include: the Dadiani Palace, a Caravanserai, the Abo Tbileli Church, old Italian courtyards, the Kashveti Church, Shardeni Street (the trade and crafts district), Abanotubani (the sulphur baths district), the Legvtakhevi waterfall, Narikala Fortress, the Sameba Cathedral, the Metekhi Temple, Kartlis Deda (the Mother of Georgia monument), the Sioni Cathedral, Rike Park, and many others.

Great time
So we booked Kristi for our first day in Tbilisi and we were glad we did. She came to the place we were staying to pick us up. We then headed to old tbilisi, new tbilisi, sulphur bath and many other places on our way. Kristi is very helpful and took us for some grocery shopping and made us familiar with the place. Being a local she is very informative and has lots of knowledge about the place. Later we also booked a tour to Mtskheta and Jvari with her and were not disappointed. Kristi is a friend now and more of a family. Even came to see us off at the airport. 😊
Saw much despite torrential rain
Even although the weather was terrible, Kristi managed to help us see many important Tbilisi sights and took us to a very reasonably prized restaurant serving excellent local cuisine for lunch - her explanations of all the dishes we could not try there and then set us up for the rest of our stay in Georgia! She clearly loves showing people all of her home town, but our personal favourite of this 4-hour tour was the Sololaki district, about whose former inhabitants Kristi has lots of weird and wonderful stories to tell which make the beautiful architecture come alive. We, like her, felt tansported into a different world.
