Mariam was friendly and explained to us in detail the plan of the day. Through the multiple stops in fortresses and monasteries she gave us historical remarks and interesting facts about each of them. Not only that but she also suggested a few good bars and clubs to go out in Tbilisi according to our more chill out/jazzy taste of music.

Description

The tour stars at Jvari Monastery, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 6th century.

We’ll then stop at the beautiful Jinvali Reservoir and the mighty Ananuri Castle.

Taking the Georgian Military Highway, we’ll head into the mountains where you’ll be treated to some breathtaking views and photo stops.

Once we reach an altitude of 2100 metres, we’ll take a break at the Gudauri ski resort area where you’ll be able to enjoy more panoramic views – as well as have the chance to go paragliding!

Later in the day we’ll visit the town of Kazbegi, also known as Stepantsminda, before driving off-road for 5-6 km to reach Gergeti Trinity Church for magnificent views of the Caucasus Mountains.

PLEASE NOTE
From October to March snow is very common. Sometimes it's impossible to complete the last 40 minutes of the drive between Gudauri and Kazbegi. I will be checking with the road department but the weather can be unpredictable and, if this is the case, you’ll have the chance to spend some time in Gudauri (instead of Kazbegi) where you will have the option of ski lessons, paragliding, cable car rides or chilling out with a drink.
