Description

Historically, Georgia was a territory where the culture of winemaking prospered. It has an 8000-year history of continuous winemaking tradition, which is evidenced by numerous archaeological discoveries.

Qvevri, the ancient Georgian winemaking method, gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 2013. Today there are over 500 grape varietals in Georgia – a greater diversity than anywhere else in the world.

During our tour we’ll visit the 4th-century Bodbe Monastery, which was built on the tomb of St Nino, the woman who brought Christianity to Georgia. Beside Bodbe is Signagi, one of the oldest towns in the country. Located on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible in the distance.

Our final stop will be the Wine Tunnel at Winery Khareba. The winery is set in an 8-kilometre-long tunnel under a mountain. Here, you’ll hear the history of Georgian wine and have the opportunity to do a tasting (not included in the price). You’ll also have a chance to purchase high-quality and prize-winning Georgian wines, honey, grape-seed oil, and traditional Georgian churchkhela (candy).

A tour with friends, not guides
This was one of the best tours I have had, our Guide Mari and driver Zura made us feel like we are home, they made us love the country and took us to all the beautiful hidden spots. they knew everything and truly love what they do...being tour guides and doing this all the time, its amazing to see them look at sunsets an awe as we do, and to take photos of the attractions out of genuine interest.....it really felt like a tour with friends and not guides. If we go back to Georgia, it won't be without arranging it with them first
Great Experience
My husband and i came to georgia together for the first time for my bday. My husband looked us a tour with Mari Tina and she was just great. Totally loved the experience she gave us and she took us around to visit beautiful places in Georgia. She was patient, friendly and entertaining. Would definitely recommend her and definitely will contact her again when we go next time. Mari Tina took us to see the natural lake as a bday gift and the whole experience was perfectly amazing. Thank you Mari for recommending the Georgian food and educating us about the culture as well. Thank you for everything and lovely meeting you... xoxo Highly recommended..
