Hi! I would like to know how can I get From Tel Aviv to Jerusalem with the public transport. What tips you can give?

Hello Una,
There are three ways to do this :
1) Take a train from "HaHagana" train station in Tel Aviv. The plus side : it's a very nice route, and a comfortable ride. The downside : the central train station in Jerusalem is not centrally located, so you might have to take another taxi or bus, if you want to get to downtown Jerusalem. The train ride is also longer than the other options.
2) Take a bus from the Central Bus Station in Tel Aviv - you have to look for the "Egged" lines on the sixth floor, bus number 405. The bus station is quite maze-like and not very tourist-friendly, so arrive a bit early. Advantage : relatively short ride (45 - 70 minutes., depending on time of day), and the central bus station in Jerusalem is relatively centrally located. Disadvantage : the central bus station in Tel Aviv is a bit difficult to navigate the first time, and not a very pleasant place to be.
3) Take a "Sherut" taxi - these are taxis that take around five people together. You can find them beside the Central Bus Station in Tel Aviv, close to the junction of Lewinsky Street and Tzemach David Street (the north-east corner of the bus station). Advantage : quickest way to go, and drops you off in Jerusalem at the Central Bus Station. Disadvantage : the drivers are not always the best, and the area where you find these taxis is not that pleasant either.

Hope this helps.

I might add that the train from "HaHagana" train station in Tel Aviv goes directly to Jerusalem - you don't have to change at the airport, as Elad stated.

Hi Una,
You have several options To get from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem:
1/ By bus, really every few minutes (10-20) – or from the main bus station. Or from the "Savidor Mercaz" )סבידור מרכז) train station
2/ By taxi – same places as by bus/
Pay attention that on the weekend (Friday noon till Saturday evening)there are no buses and fewer taxies.
Enjoy your stay

Options are:
* Take bus #480, which leaves regularly and at high frequency (every 10~12 minutes) from Arlozorov street bus-terminal (next to Tel-Aviv's Central Railway Station). Travel should take a little less than an hour ("Egged"'s website says 58 minutes) in a fast, comfortable bus, that brings you straight to Jerusalem's central bus station (a very unpleasant location).
* Take the train, either from the said station or from another (University, or haShalom / 'Azri`eli, or haHagana...). As the fast track between the two cities is not yet complete, travel should take between 80 and 90 minutes, but if you do not mind the extra-time, it might be a lot nicer, than a bus. The train leaves only once an hour (according to the website: every hour:44), and gets you to either the biblical zoo, or to "Malkha" shopping mall.
* Take bus #405, from Tel-Aviv's central bus station to Jerusalem's c.b.s. Bus leaves every 15 minutes and the travel lasts slightly over an hour. I do NOT recommend this move, however, as Tel-Aviv's c.b.s. is HORRIBLE, possibly the WORST place in Israel. Best maintaining a good distance from it!!
* Take a service-cab ("monith sheruth") from next to the said central bus station to central Jerusalem, but as I said, I do NOT recommend this one, either. Nor would I recommend to take the train from "haHagana" station, which is just next to it.

Hey!
First, you can take a bus from Tel Aviv "Hacarmelit" station or "Hatachana Hamerkazit" to Tel Aviv.
Second, you can go by train.
You have 5 train stations in Tel Aviv from their you can take train to Jerusalem but you'll probably need to change train in the airport.

From Tel Aviv to Jerusalem:
Savidor (Arlozorov) train station, Egged bus 480 every ten minutes except Friday afternoons to Saturday evening.
Also usually sheruts (mini vans) that hold 10 people only that leave when full in front of the train station.
or
New Central Bus Station:
Egged Express bus #405, runs quite frequently, except Friday etc.
Also sheruts in back of CBS.
All buses go to the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem where you can catch the light rail around Jerusalem and many buses, including the #1 to the Kotel.
Jerusalr to Tel Aviv: Same bus numbers, same frequent time. Note: soldiers go home for the weekend on Thursdays, so bus travel then and Fridays will be packed!
