Why locals love it
Ailinpieti's Fishing Hut was built in the 1860s. The first owned by Arvid Ailinpieti, whose descendants used the building until the 1960s. After that, the building was deserted. In 1990's Ailinpieti became state-owned, it was protected by a decision of the Ministry of the Environment. The building was restored in 1994.
Why you should visit it
The stones in the area are rich in carvings. The stone next to Ailinpieti has the year 1773. The well was made in the 19th century. The barrel pook that guided the fishermen was made in the 1930s, but possibly there was a pook in the past as well. The Selkä-Sarvi's Sauna, which was still standing in the 1970s, was erected in 1833.
Special tip
Ailinpietin's cabin is always open. There are no staff on site.
