Why locals love it

The museum building on the banks of the Kemijoki River was originally built as a loan grain warehouse in 1849. The loan grain warehouses were maintained by a mantle community founded by the peasants, which stored seed grain in case of bad harvest years.

Why you should visit it

The museum displays objects telling the history of Keminmaa. Upstairs you can discover the lost river fishing tradition. The Museum is maintained by the Keminmaa Society. Next to the museum is Finland's northernmost greystone church, St. Michael's Church, built in the 16th century. The new church in Keminmaa was completed in 1827.
