Ostrobothnia's Old Coastal Road is one of Finland's most important historical road lines. The road, which developed from the Equestrian Trail in the 17th century, has run from Turku to Stockholm around the Gulf of Bothnia. The coastal road has been the most important road in Ostrobothnia and the only road in Lapland for a long time.
In the Lapland region, almost the entire length of the coastal road, 70 kilometers, can be located in the terrain. The best-preserved sections longer than a kilometer, where both the alignment and the terrain of the old road have been preserved in Tornio, Keminmaa, Kemi, Simo
The road is part of the Gulf of Bothnia Coastal Road, which is almost 900 km long. The road starts from Tornio and ends at Vehmaa.
