Tervola's old and new church form a rare landscape complex on the bank of the Kemijoki riverbank. Tervola's new church was built of wood 1864-65 (1860, L.I.Lindqvist). It is a tower with a cross, a church with a different shape. The large tower ends with four small towers and a central peak.

Tervola's old wooden church was built in 1687-89. It is shaped like a tower-less pillar church, which is covered by a high, tented saddle roof. The church hall is covered by a barrel vault. All in all, the church is one of the few wooden churches of the 17th century and has retained its very original appearance. The church is surrounded by cemetery
