Tornio Valley Museum - The Tornedalens Museum presents the culture and history of Tornio Valley on both sides of the Finnish-Swedish border. The Tornio Valley, located in Finland and Sweden, is a historically unified cultural and dialectal area. The museum specializes in the Tornio Valley lifestyle and border phenomena. The past comes to life.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum has 2-4 changing exhibitions each year. The Museum is a regional museum responsible for the cities of Tornio, Haparanda and Kemi, as well as the municipalities of Simon, Tervola, Keminmaa, Ylitornio, Pello, Kolari and Muonio. In 2014, the museum became the only cross-border museum in the world.
Its activities are also funded by the Swedish municipality of Haparanda.
